Travellers Palm

The scientific name for Traveler Palm tree is Ravenala madagascariensis. The Traveller Palm has been given the name "traveller's palm" because the sheaths of the stems hold rainwater, which supposedly could be used as an emergency drinking supply for needy travellers. Another reason its called the Travellers Palm is that the fan tends to grow on an east–west line, providing a crude compass. The tree will orient themselves with the first and last leaf blades pointed to the north and south direction. Thus, the flat side of the palm faces east and west, enabling all the leaves to benefit most from the sun light. Thus, it is said that travelers can use the tree to orient the direction of their travel.

Tenera Palm

The Tenera Palm (Elaeis guineensis var. Tenera) is a hybrid variety of the oil palm, known for its high oil yield. It is a cross between the dura and pisifera varieties of the African oil palm, which results in a plant with thinner shells and higher oil content in its fruit. This palm is primarily cultivated for its oil, which is widely used in food, cosmetics, and industrial products. The Tenera Palm has a tall, straight trunk and long, feather-like fronds. It grows best in tropical climates with well-drained, fertile soil, and it requires plenty of sunlight and regular rainfall to thrive. It is primarily grown in large plantations for commercial oil production.
